HAPPY CHICKEN LUNAR NEW YEAR EVERYBODYYYYYYY!!!
yay!!
bak kua!! pineapple tarts!! kueh lapis!! ANG BAO!!
whahahah!
it's this period of time that we can all fully enjoy and indulge in all the new year goodies.
not that it's unavailable when it's not CNY but don't u thing it's more appropriate eating them during CNY?
new year's eve started with a big bang.
literally. i knocked my head on my bed post.
then it was off to work. the part timers on duty mainly just cleaned the entire place.
big black face manager & irritating good fer nothin moley manager were around to boss us around, putting minimal participation into the area cleaning.
but it was nice that they got the cooks to prepare Seafood spaghetti wrap for us!!
it was reali delicious man. bestseller reali live up to its name.
after our sumptious meal together with leftover strawberry shortcakes and other delectable cakes, the nightmare started.
the worst & most disgusting area to clean was the display fridge for the cakes & pastries.
we had to remove the marble surface & clean off the dirt, mouldy cake bits, pastry bits and other unidentfiable objects which resembles bird shit.
utterly grossssssssss!!!!! and it stinks too!
took us a whole hour to finish cleaning. yuck yuck yuck.
well, least we got the job done and we had fun too :)
after reunion dinner that day went to river ang bao with art.
it's just a reali huge funfair/pasa malam with various rides ( $2.50 per token!!) and many foodstalls. the place was flooded with ppl, with CNY tunes playing loudly in the background, we had to talk reali loudly to get ourselves heard.
could reali feel the festive season then.
the highlight of the night was that we managed to view the fireworks!!
we were walkin past the ticket booth for the river boat & the ticket seller was promoting the ride for 15bucks per pax and we'll get to view the fireworks while in the boat.
we contemplated for really long & finally decided to go for the ride. yippeeee.
the boat went past the fullerton hotel, then along boat quay and made a u-turn, went past one fullerton, u-turned again & made a stop at a spot where the fireworks would be best viewed.
along the way i was being tour guide to art, explaining to him the origin of the merlion, that the pubs/bars/restaurants were warehouses long time ago & various other stuff about singapore's history. i couldn't help it la. just rambled on. am surprised that i actually still remember my singpore history. wad to do. history student. fwaahah. he got kinda irritated with my gushing on about how sg was a seaport with its booming entrepot trade when we realized it's 11.55pm
then FINALLY, after what seemed like forever, the fireworks display started exactly at 12 midnight.
thousands of sparkles & stars burst high into the air with a loud bang.
the night skies were painted & filled with the neverending array of multi-coloured patterns & sparkles. each one seemed to be more magnificent & beautiful than the other.
i just went "oooohhh" & "aaahhhh" and " oh that's pretty" and "that's soooo nice" the whole time.
it lasted for about 10mins and the finale was really spectacular.
wad a wonderful night. 15 bucks was totally totally worth it man.
1st day of CNY was kuite a routine affair.
visitations to my paternal relatives' place with more munching & also the gambling sessions.
highlight of the evening was dinner cooked by my big aunt's husband.
he prolly should open up a foodstall selling his dishes. awesome i tell you.
after the meal my top felt tighter & i could hardly breathe.
okay. im tired already. should get some sleep.
